I teach the history of rock and roll at an institution of higher education (probably the equivalent of "yoga" or "basket-weaving" classes in yesteryears) and today (yep, teaching on Sundays this semester) we discussed the worst song.  I MADE them sit through Brokencyde.  Made them.
Most of the students were horrified--like blank looks of disbelief.

A couple people said, "I don't know...it's not that bad."

Is it worse that "Kokomo"?

They're both stupid, but the Brokencyde's aggressive stupidity makes them much worse in my book.

Tom needs to put together a compilation album of worst songs.  Perhaps a 2 CD set, the second CD being his "commentary" on the songs.

Such a set could be 'curated' by Philly Boy Roy, as with his box set of Philly Greats.

I listened to some Huey Lewis thinking his back catologue would provide for this thread but I ended up feeling nostalgic for the Sports album.  Then I remebered the band that makes me want to die; Aerosmith.  It is so derivative and soul sucking and this song tops the heap.

I agree, any song Aerosmith put out after 1980 is part of Steve from North Hollywood's 1000-way tie for last.

Pumps and a Bump by MC Hammer is in there somewhere.

The whole point of hip hop I thought was to have songs with more than six words.

ive taken this class before and LOVED it.  probably because we didnt have to sit through Brokencyde.  but we did have to sit through "Good Vibrations".  i enjoyed it, everyone else was baffled and bored.

I'm gonna assume not at the school I teach, right?  To Friends of Tom, here, in Kalamazoo, MI?!?

I would be bothering you constantly, if this was the case.  You'd have a stalker.....

Wait....i'm not supposed to admit that anymore.....

I took a Frank Zappa class at my University, and really enjoyed it

I know everyone here hates Zappa because Tom said he didn't like Zappa on the air, but he had an interesting career and was very talented. I certainly don't regret taking the class hehehe

I'll cop to it: I like Zappa, too. Not quite as much as I did in high school, when I was totally nuts about him, but I still have a soft spot for him.

I too am an unapologetic Zappa fan.

I'm with you. Love Zappa -  but not nearly as much as I did in high school.

I don't think I love anything as much as I did in high school. Maybe I should check into Abilify.

I don't think Abilify helps with that, Dave.
