This has not been a banner week for weight loss. Last night we had "meat fest". We grilled pork chops, lamb, chicken, carribean sausage. Oh, and some veggie kebabs. For fiber.

Sure they are open 24 hours. Just not in a row. </stevenwright>

In this economy, if they are open 24 TOTAL hours, it's a miracle.

Hugman- I was reminded of this thread because your Kick-ass playlist just came up on shuffle on my iPod.
I really like that playlist!

So, I think maybe we FOT have been lax in our fitness, judging by the silence in this thread.

How's about it?

As far as I go, I have been trying to get "into" riding bikes (if you've read the Pictures of Bikes thread, you know what a mishap that has been). Unfortunately, it has not been near as "strenuous" as my running had been, so I have not, let's say, burned off the calories as much.
Due to finances, I've put buying a good bike on the backburner for this season, so goodbye to bike-riding (until the fall). and I HOPE to start running again.

i've gained a good 10+ pounds since the elbow fracture.  My wife says it's fine, but I'm vain. I'll be able to get back in the swing of things in three weeks.

Glad people are digging the playlist, BTW!

working for the medical industry, every year we get a free wellness check where they get your weight, make you stretch, measure your body fat and take your measurements.  they also take blood so they can check all the blood nonsense like cholesterol; you dont realize how nice it is to get this information until you get it for free.

anyway, since i did the wellness check last year and this year, they are able to give you current results and compare them with last year's results.  around my waist alone, i lost FOUR inches!  i was ecstatic considering the weight gain (five more pounds) but ive also gained some serious muscles (i can see it in my arms) so im okay with the weight gain.

...and there it is, the reward to my hard work in the last 3-4 months.

I bought some kettlebells.  They're great, and old-timey looking, but it's harder to motivate myself to use them than to run.

I've heard those are awesome. I have forbidden myself from buying any more exercise equipment. It's like a sickness.

I did start running this year, though, because the older I get, the slower my metabolic process gets. I needed to do something more than I was previously doing.

You only weigh 10% of your body weight?!

Inspired by this thread, I went out and bought a blender so I could eat smoothies a lot.  I'm in Virginia teaching now, but they have a blender in the house I'm staying in, so I'm still making smoothies.  I'm trying to stir-fry veggies for dinner a few nights a week.  Plus I'm bored out of my mind and don't really feel like writing, so I'm bringing my zune to the gym every day.  It appears to be working!
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Congrats! I signed up for a similar program at my company (we make medical devices - well, the people in production do, I'm just one of the jerks with a cubicle job). We'll see how that goes...

warning: bragging

I ran around an entire lake last Sunday. Well, I had to run/walk/run for the second half. It was about 7.5 miles and I'm not in shape or anything. I'm still sore but I hope to do a repeat performance this weekend.

Wow if you ran that far, it sounds like you're in pretty good shape to me!
