Richard Harris' soundtrack to the ill-fated, all-hobo adaptation of The Shining he attempted to mount on Broadway. For those curious, it wasn't the hobo actors that caused it to be shut down in the middle of the first show, it was that the hobo set designers never figured out how to stop the blood from rushing straight from the elevators on stage right out into the audience.
This may be the year I will disappear.

My daughter fell in love with ABBA because of TBS. She was just learning how to sit up when the ABBA Box was in the midst of it's reign on TBS and was into them immediately. She got the Definitive Collection and the DVD for her 2nd birthday, and the book and box set for Christmas. She has looked at the book so many times that pages are falling out and I've had to tape the book back together.

That is so awesome. Your daughter certainly has good taste. Mine's a blossoming ABBA fan as well, although she simply refers to the band as a whole as "the dancing queen."

As for purchases I can thank TBS for:

- Nixonland: Can't say enough good things about it, although it isn't hard to see why some folks might get bored/frustrated reading it. Making it to the end of the 700+ pages is a big commitment. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and got many good laughs out of Nixon's uncontrollable urge to control things.

- Solo McCartney: Never a diehard Beatles fan, I was surprised how quickly I took to the Wings stuff. It's fantastic.

- Look Around You Series 1: It don't get much funnier than this.

- Panera Bread: Really good black bean soup - especially for a chain restaurant. Don't eat there often but without Tom's accolades I probably never would've tried it.

This week Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets have appeared in my work's vending machine, and I kind of just feel like I have to get one and whip it at a car with Jersey plates.

The LA Nuggets box.

This is *sort of* a purchase, but we took our kids to America's Incredible Pizza* this weekend.  They had go-karts, and I thought of the podcast I'd listened to the day before.  Somehow I'd never actually gone go-karting in my life, and Tom's words echoed in my head about "driving 60 or 70 miles an hour, parking, and going 20 miles an hour."  My four-year-old loved it, though.

*  which felt like a cross between a Simpsons episode and a Best Show rant.  And the pizza ain't so incredible.

I don't know if I've ever heard Tom's go-karting rant, but I have to admit that I am pro-go-kart.  Not so much as an adult, but my dad started my brother and I on go-karts at about 8 years old, and I think we're better drivers for it.  He bumped us up to Chevy Malibu wagon training when I was 12 and my brother was 14... Could've gone a lot worse if not for the karts.

Driving slowly in a tiny car shouldn't really be that fun if you think about it objectively, but it just is.

Just bought tales designed to thrizzle vol. 4 today at the comic book store across from where I work - at $4.50 with 25% off (store discount for the month of may) it was like 3.25, the cost of a cookie at most places in midtown. Respect to Kupperman - the jokes and drawings are both equally awesome.
