The Long Goodbye is really, really good. The best adaptation of a Chandler novel I've seen (even though many liberties are taken with the source material), and Marty Augustine is perhaps one of the greatest noir villains ever.

I'm not actually that huge of an Altman fan, in that he made only two movies I consider truly great: That and McCabe and Mrs. Miller.(Two great movies is nothing to sneeze at, of course; I just don't rate him as highly as many do.)
I haven't actually seen 3 Women since it was released. Thieves Like Us came close. California Split might too, but I've never seen it under conditions where I could make out a line of dialogue. But no, for me Nashville misses by a mile.
