November 1, 2010 show.

Of course I can see why NPR wouldn't contact Tom, the Best Show's humor is clearly not what they are going for.  However, I think what Benjamin Walker can produce, largely by himself, beats NPR at it's own game.  I don't think it's the intellectualism of NPR that is its flaw but it's self-satisfied smarm.  TMI's edginess, as I see it, is not something I would imagine NPR would embrace.  Although it has been compared to This American Life.

Like a lot of WFMU staffers, he worked at WNYC for a while. I'm not sure if he's still there or not (I think he said he was fired on TMI, but he does this great Joe Frank thing where you don't really know how staged the real-life segments are). I do know that he was pretty unhappy there, though.

Incidentally, This American Life is PRI, which only demonstrates your point even more: even it was too edgy for NPR.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Stuck on this song:

Makes me sad that  she spent like 6 years as just the bass player.

I think Clay Pigeon could find a home at NPR. His voice is like the Bizarro World version of the typical NPR voice.

Oh my God. Oh, oh. How much do I hate Clay Pigeon's voice? Oh, SO much. Maybe because I grew up in the Midwest and his voice is like somebody took everything I loathed about where I grew up and fed it through a FEEL THE HORROR modulator, but I will NEVER. EVER. listen voluntarily to that.  Maybe that's why I don't hate NPR? Except for Car Talk and Garrison Keillor, I do hate them.

Etc. etc. I hate this, I hate that, blah blah.

I love TMI. He's always got interesting guests and stories (the guy who works in Washington, DC, the episode on Russia including the 'social media expert' being misled by his translator into believing a prostitute was actually into him, Evgeny Morozov, and on and on). It could sure improve NPR's line up.

Well, he does that dumb/supposed-to-be-creepy-I-guess voice usually, but what about his regular voice that he uses to talk to other DJs and people on the street?

I'm guessing it either sounds like Barry White or Daffy Duck...

I meant that he does speak in his regular voice occasionally. It's a little less annoying.

I like them too, but those lyrics are pretty bad.

Just simple and repeated over and over.

I don't quite understand his recent resurgence in popularity.  It seems pretty aged.

I think Scott 4 has aged very gracefully.
