Seventeen Evergreen. A favorite from college that I occasionally have to listen to again.

Very nice dfk--thanks.  That Neu! song is fantastic.  Have you ever heard a current-ish Brooklyn band--Oneida? You might like them. They are proggy and fit with Neu!  oneida-ghost in the room

God help me.

I was just listening.  to the Magic Band from the BBC. The songs hold up minus the Captain.

I own an Oneida recording, but I can't tell you which one, or even what it sounds like, because I only listened to it 3 times when I bought it a while back. But don't take that as a dismissal, I have hundreds of discs I haven't even listened to once, so I must have liked it some.

Why do you consider Traffic prog?

My definition of prog is broad. But you first. Why not? (PS, give "Low Spark" another run, I think you will hear plenty of prog elements.)

I was afraid you'd raise that point. I still consider the soloing more emotional than what you get from proggers. For me, Traffic has more soul/ R&B and far less classical than my idea of prog. There also seems to be more than a touch of jazz (not fusion) in the solos of Winwood and Wood. A friend once describe the difference between Yes and Traffic as Prog-Rock vs Hybrid music.

I've stuck with that ever since.

Also, Wikipedia doesn't list Traffic as a prog band (just checked). So it's definitive: your definition is too broad.
