My favorite part of the JCF interview was how engaged Mike seemed to be in suggesting questions for him. I didn't know Mike was such a 'Räger. TM.
I was trying in the chat to come up with other Tom interviews of this type, where the person on the other end isn't necessarily fully understanding of the Best Show, and may in fact have been a target for fun-making in other circumstances.
Kevin Smith is the all-timer. Other people mentioned Sanjaya. I remember the Nostradamus author and, in terms of only kind of grasping the show, Bob Odenkirk.
I really enjoy Patton Oswalt, Aimee Mann, Andy Kindler, Jon Daly - the people who are part of the Best Show universe itself. But it takes a tremendous amount of skill to be gently mocking and appreciative at the same time, and to make the guest comfortable.
There were several things that JCF said where I rolled my eyes because they were, you know, Hollywood insidery. But he seemed like a decent, down-to-earth guy in spite of being a small part of that world, and who knows how I or anyone else would react to being suddenly recognized on the street. It was a good change of pace.
