Everyone knows that "Signs" by the Five Man Electrical Band has the worst lyrics of all time. The "took off my hat and said 'Imagine that!'" part is definitely the biggest phony hippie fantasy to appear in music. There's no way that happens. It's like they thought hippies had some magic Looney Tunes powers or Hobo Magic or something, where they could hide all their hippie hair under a hat and suddenly walk into an office building and fool the boss into thinking they were wearing a shirt and tie just because they had the long tucked up into a top hat they found in a dumpster somewhere.

It's about a classmate of Paul's brother Mike, who died on a school trip to a zoo after playing around near the polar bear enclosure.
