Even though I have a tiny amount of grudging respect for that flaming dick Mike Love (at least pre-Pet Sounds), I am really laughing at this extended anti-Mike Love rant. Great use of Mike's gavel gift!

I have a queasy feeling that, on some inchoate level, he believes that when the end of private ownership produces unalienated conditions of labor, every person will self-realize their potential through creative work.  In other words: a million bands as good as Mit Hamine.

I think that thought just made me a totalitarian. Thanks.
I thought of Pol Pot.

Trickster.
Perhaps.

Still, I wonder what Mit would do to people who are not interested in his agenda.

Know what Imean?

Mit who? Mit Imean?

You could do a pretty sweet "Who's On First"-esque bit if the name of the band was "Hamine Mit." "Hamine Mit." "Yeah, yeah, I get it. You mean Mit. The name of the band is 'Mit.'" "No, no, Hamine Mit!" "Yeah, the band's called 'Mit'!" Etc.

You could sort of pull it off even with just "Mit Hamine" rather than the reversed name, but it'd be sort of clunky.

I apologize if someone's already pointed this out.

Vance's open letter to the guy from Slate magazine! So great!

Dave Weigel is a stealthy right-winger. He comes off like a rather witty and intelligent guy who knows and criticizes the right, but occasionally slips in admiration for his racist pal Steve Sailer or the late Andrew Breitbart.

It's nice to see a piece on prog but yeah, the guy says that Icarus was making innovative use of wax and feathers when any casual rock fan can tell you that it was Daedalus (Icarus' father) who built the contraption with which Icarus fell to his death.

I hope Tom using the gavel becomes a regular thing for a while.  It made me kind of giddy.

The Bad Accompanied "Craig / Uncle Crizzle / Tavis Not So Smiley" is the former movie critic for the Raleigh News and Observer newspaper.  I liked some of his reviews, but you could tell even then that he, uh, really liked to talk.  A lot.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Is there anyway we could get Tom to do some 90s alternative remakes for the next pledge drive?  Of the top of my head, he's done Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, SPOONMAN, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam maybe?
