Ever do nothing and gain nothing from it?
Ever feel stupid and then know that you really are?
Ever think you're smart and then find out you aren't?
Ever play the fool and then find out that you're worse?

I'm kind of amazed that Mike appears to have no idea what Pasolini's Salo is. Seems like it should at least be in his wheelhouse. I could do the six second review no problem: "It seems fascists are sexually fucked up! If this is news to you, see it! Me, I'm out!"

I think there must have been some miscommunication there. There's no way Mike hasn't seen Salo multiple times.

I mixed up Fellini's Satyricon with Salo. The Playboy Channel would show Satyricon and Roma when it was feeling highbrow. I don't believe I've ever seen Salo. This may come as a surprise to you, but I'm really not into torture. And I think S & M is dumb.

Track 6 on the album Music From the Motion Picture Spring Breakers is Bikinis & Big Booties Y'all by Cliff Martinez.

It's 2 minutes of quiet synth ambience and echoey single piano notes. (Hilarious!)

I'm sharing this because I thought it was funny seeing the word "Y'all" appear in the title of a Skerllex-produced song.

The Paul Revere of Stupidity!

Walking, Talking Toilets!

As an aside to AP Mike and movies, Stroszek makes WFMU's Fabio cry.

Also, don't Gary and AP Mike have an S& M kind of relationship? My favorite one involving a rodent is Krazy Kat & Ignatz the Mouse.

James McNew! I wish James wasn't so shy. I loved hearing him and Tom together.

That was great. A nice touch.

James McNew is the best.

Best:

- in the opening minutes, Tom declaring that he would be taking Mike to a "Hate Speech Clinic"
- none of the guests on Comedians are Nuts can ever understand what Gary is saying
- the imperiousness with which Tom put that John Belushi-comparing guy in his place: "The FPs are trying to get things done over here."

I want to be part of this "coming back and telling it like it was" movement Tom and James mentioned.  I do disagree about the Pixies to some extent.  I was at the same CBGB show that Tom mentioned (opening for Big Dipper, early 1988), and they couldn't have been more intense.  It didn't last long, though: 18 months later, they were bored and listless.  I do think the Pixies been horrifically overrated, though, and I have no interest in seeing their reunion show.  So strange that Doolittle is considered the canonical album, when Come On Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa were so obviously better.
